ABOUT LFL
New Liverpool Event Celebrates Fashion for Everyone
Two local business women are taking on the stereotypes of the fashion industry as they launch an event promoting 'fashion for everyone' in Liverpool next month.
Ruth and Caz have vowed to prove that fashion is inclusive of every individual and each person has a place within the industry no matter what their age, size, race or disability.
The pair both own fashion businesses in the North West and are conscious that most people feel excluded by the traditional fashion shows and events.
Ruth, who owns North West based online ladies fashion retailer Room31.co.uk, says: "Liverpool Fashion LIVE will break all the rules of the stereotypical pretentious fashion show and will be full of unique live entertainment, catwalk shows from local and well known national brands and the chance for everyone to get involved in fashion."
Ruth and Caz came up with the idea for the event after realising that although they are professional women who work in the fashion industry, they were not represented by the traditional shows and events themselves. After speaking to people they knew they found a lot of local people felt the same.
Caz, who created The Style Factory- a social enterprise running fashion events and workshops in the community says: "Everyone wears, buys and enjoys clothes- so why shouldn't everyone be represented on the catwalk?"
She adds: "People love fashion no matter what their age, size, sex or disability and we want to celebrate that."
As well as some top fashion brands, the catwalk showcase 'real' models who have been chosen to represent the people of the city.
"Our models are all shapes and sizes", says Caz, "We wanted the catwalk show to be fun and vibrant and to represent the real fashion consumers so we didn't want to just use professional models."
